An interest in quality has led me into developing software in the field of Statistical Process Control. This work is done in association with ITK in the Netherlands.

Variation is an early incarnation of SPC Wizard (see below). It is available free of charge to individuals for private study.
In a graphical simulation, a ball is fired from a launcher, bounces once, then lands on a target scale. A small amount of random variation is built in to the launch velocity and the bounciness of each ball. This variation can be changed while the simulation is running to create 'special' type variation. The landing position of the balls can be displayed on Control Charts or a Histogram. The purpose of 'Variation' is to give some experience of interpreting Shewhart Control Charts.

SPC Wizard is a Statistical Process Control application for Windows. As well as being designed for SPC analysis, the visual process simulations generate variable and attribute data making SPC Wizard ideal as a teaching aid.
You can enter and store process data in SPC Wizard's own database, or you can connect directly to data already stored in various popular storage systems such as Excel spreadsheets (named ranges), Access databases, CSV text files etc. SPC Wizard can also display data stored in Datalyzer DL9000 and Datalyzer Spectrum databases.
You can download SPC Wizard from ITK's web site and run it in Restricted mode free of charge. The built-in simulations of Deming's Funnel and Red Beads experiments are not restricted.
